Vehicle insurance is a class of insurance purchased for cars, trucks, and other vehicles where its primary purpose is to provide protection against losses to parties involved in traffic accidents and more important, against liability arising from an accident.

Vehicle insurance is compulsory and one must show proof that one have vehicle insurance before one is allowed to put one's vehicle on public road. However, the minimum requirement varies from state to state. The minimum requirement for auto insurance in Washington is coverage of $25,000 per person that is injured or killed in an accident and a minimum coverage of $10,000 for property damages.

Car insurance prices and coverage also varies from company to company and coverage also differs. It would be wise for you to compare coverage as different people may have different requirements.

To put a vehicle on public roads in Washington, vehicle owners can show proof of insurance coverage by showing the temporary card issued by insurance companies or by showing the receipt for premium paid for auto insurance.

Car, trucks and SUV insurance

Vehicle InsuranceAuto Insurance which is also know as Auto InsuranceAuto Insurance, is one topic one can never get away from when discussing cars and trucks. In practically every jurisdiction, you will be required to have a minimum liability insuranceliability insurance before you are allowed to put a car on the public roads. This is to ensure that in the event of an accident which resulted in property damages or bodily injuries to third parties, the injured can claim for compensation. The governing authorities want to ensure that anyone involved in an accident will have insurance to pay for any liabilities incurred whilst using a vehicle on public road.

Vehicle insurance is a multifarious topic as there are many types of motor insurance.
One of them is no fault insuranceno fault insurance. The purpose of "no fault insurance" is to reduce cost by not trying to find fault or blame as to who caused the accident. In the absence of such no fault insurance, time and expenses will be incurred in trying to figure out who is at fault and thus become liable to pay compensation, and in the worst case, this may result in costly litigations in the courts. No fault insurance does away with all that and thus greatly reduce cost and time incurred.

Student car insuranceStudent car insurance or auto insurance for young persons is another class of insurance you should be familiar with, especially if you have children. People of tender ages have limited driving experience and thus considered as of higher risks or have not yet demonstrated responsible driving and thus attracts higher insurance premiums. However, if you are enrolled in an educational institutions and especially if you have good grades, some insurance company consider this as a demonstration of greater responsibility and thus charge lower premiums.

The minimum requirement to put a vehicle on public roads is liability insurance which may not cover damages to own vehicle. If you want to be compensated for repairs to own vehicle, you will have to get collision insurancecollision insurance alternatively known as comprehensive insurance.

Land Range Rover Spare Parts

Land Rover
Land Rover, the manufacturer is an all-terrain vehicle and Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) manufacturer, based in Solihull, England, now operated as part of the Jaguar Land Rover business owned by Tata Motors of India.

Land Rover, the vehicle is one of the longest surviving Four-wheel drive (4WD) all-terrain vehicle and Multi Purpose Vehicle. Is so, you probably have experienced a shock when faced with the high cost of spare parts for the Range Rover. However, the good news is that you have an alternative Roverland Parts & Land Rover Parts, particularly the Range Rover Parts where you can purchase high quality used Range Rover parts. The Range Rover parts are sourced from salvaged Range Rovers written off by insurance companies, many of them written off for only minor crashes or air bag deployments and still have tons of great "Quality Used" parts.

The parts that often fail are the engines, transmissions, air suspension systems, window regulators, A/C blender motors, sunroofs, etc. At the site, you can shop according to parts like for example Range Rover transmissions.

Auto Parts Finder

Search for parts for your car, MPV, trucks, etc.:

so that you will get the best car for the money you spent.

Buying New Cars. Car Reviews and Road Tests

New Cars and Pre-owned Cars
Previously they call New Cars which have been used by others, then put on the market for resale as used cars or second-hand cars. Not anymore. Now it is all fancy, nice sounding names. Used cars are now known as pre-owned cars. Nothing second-hand about them.

What is the difference new cars and pre-owned cars. Obviously, the former had not been owned or registered for use on the road before while the later had. Now if you are buying pre-owned cars, you have to be vigilant and check the car thoroughly before you put your money down for the car. One question you must ask is, why the previous car owner is selling it. If it is to upgrade to a higher class car or the owner is moving to another country or something, then you should be more confident about the pre-owned car. What you need to watch out for is cars being put on sale because the previous owners have had to put up with many mechanical problems.

The most important details to check is the paint work. Examine the car body surface at a glancing angle against the light. If you see wawy surface, it means that area had been knocked back into shape and repainted. That area had suffered a car accident before. Also, check very carefully for sign of rust. Mechanical problems can be fixed. Not a rusting car body.

New Cars and Car Reviews
If you can afford it, it is better to try to save a bit of money buying pre-owned cars. Look at and consider New Cars instead. With new cars, you can be assured that the car have never met with an accident before and it is guaranteed for a sufficiently long period of time. Pay a bit more but sleep better at night. There is a huge choice of different car manufacturers and models. The choice can be bewildering. Best is to read up on Car Reviews to get a good idea of what is available on the market, a car model good points and bad points. Armed with knowledge of various makes of cars, you will be in a better position to make an informed choice when you buy your new car.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cars-and-trucks-articles.blogspot.com/2008/06/buying-new-cars-reviews-tests-road.html' title='Buying New Cars. German Autobahn, Speed Limits and Car Testing

Fast Cars
"Fast Car" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman which won a Grammy Award. Fast cars also runs in the blood of many youngsters including my two sons. Currently the fastest production car is the SSC Ultimate Aero TT which was verified by the Guinness World Records on October 9, 2007. SSC Aero is built by Shelby Super Cars of the United States of America. The SSC Ultimate Aero TT is a high performance limited edition mid-engine car which have achieve the fastest recorded speed of 413 kilometer per hour or 257 miles per hour to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Car Reviews
Want to learn more about fast cars? You can try theCarConnection's Car Reviews which even have a provision for you to schedule car review for a make of your choice and get a price quotation. Unfortunately, Shelby's cars are not included. Ferrari is in the list though. Ferrari too once held the title of the fastest production car three times, once in 1955 with the Ferrari 410 Superamerica, once in 1962 with the Ferrari 250 GTO, once more 1984 with the Ferrari 288 GTO and the most recent one in 1987 with the Ferrari F40.

Ferrari
Ferrari!! I have 3 T-shirts with the official Ferrari logo, all in its standard red color. Ferrari is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929.

German Autobahn and the speed limit
Your mouth may drip saliva at the though to testing fast cars mentioned above, however you will not be able to test its top speed. Those fast cars all have top speed way above the highest speed limits in the roads of almost every country in the world. The only exception I know is Germany. The German autobahn do not impose a speed limit although there is a recommended speed of the German autobahn is 130 kilometer per hour or 81 miles per hour. So if you want to sit behind the steering wheels of the fast cars and push them to its limit, you will have to do it on the German autobahn.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cars-and-trucks-articles.blogspot.com/2008/06/fast-cars-german-autobahn-speed-limits.html' title='Fast cars. That is a mighty long time. Other than electric cars and hybrid cars, practically all the cars currently on the road are using very old technology, the internal combustion engines. A revolution in car technology is definitely overdue. The hosting of Motor Shows or Car Shows hopefully can provide the impetus to the birth of truly revolutionary New Cars. I own 2 patents, one of which had been infringed upon by the tolled road operators in my country. I still have lots of ideas that have not seen daylight. As an inventor, I know the importance of brain storming. I am pretty sure there are lots of brain storming prior to any motor shows. The whole world is currently eagerly awaiting to a truly new technology car can will solve the current woes of the environment and meet the ongoing energy crisis.

Concept Cars
At any motor shows, especially the Tokyo Motor Show, you will see lots of concept cars. Concept cars are prototypes created to illustrate a concept. Most of these concept cars on display at motor shows will never make it to the production lines. Most of the ideas or contraptions probably never even made it to the motor shows. However, it is in the brain storming of new concept cars in which our hope for a real revolution in car technologies lie.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_sEyw6txVACs/SElhk7Z9SfI/AAAAAAAABZA/fKa9kgL-O7A/s400/concept+car+antjeverena.jpg" border="0" alt="concept car"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5208801731080440306" title="concept car" />

Photo of a concept car? is property of antje verena

The most likely new technology car
Futures are hard to predict, but let me go out on a limb are be a fortune teller on this new technology car. My predictions are that cars using internal combustion engine will be replaced by electric cars. What make the difference between the predicted new electric cars from existing electric cars would be way the electrical power is generated or stored.

Electric cars with power generated by fuel cells
This would be an easy one as there are already prototype electric cars with electricity generated by fuel cells (fuel cell is "some kind of battery" which uses chemical reaction between 2 substances, for example between hydrogen and oxygen, to generate the electricity). All that is required is refinement of the fuel cells to a point where electric cars with fuel cells become a practical realty.

Electric cars with power generated by nuclear fusion
It would be ideal if the electricity is generated by controlled nuclear fusion. Those familiar with power generation using controlled nuclear fusion will know that it involves nuclei of hydrogen (can also be other elements) fusing together to become atoms of helium (if other than hydrogen, the "final product" will be other elements) with huge amount of energy released. If you know nuclear fusion, you will know that had already been demonstrated, but it involves huge apparatuses plus so far, energy input needed to get the nuclear fusion going exceeds the energy output. However, I have heard of a development where nuclear fusion had been demonstrated using small apparatuses plus with power output greater than input. If this can be confirmed, then the raw material for this nuclear fusion reaction is just water. Plenty of that stuff. Don't you find that exciting?
<!--
-------------------------------

http://www.thecarconnection.com
Anchor Text: Cars

http://www.thecarconnection.com
Anchor Text: New Cars

http://www.thecarconnection.com
Anchor Text: Car Shows

Your Blog URL: http://cars-and-trucks-articles.blogspot.com/
Advertiser URL: http://www.thecarconnection.com
Ad Type: blog entry
Advertiser Notes:
(These are
requests and
comments from
the advertiser)

Information From Advertiser: each post must have this Url http://www.thecarconnection.com

Anchor Text: Cars

and any of the two urls below and the related anchor text to complete the post

=====

Url http://www.thecarconnection.com

Anchor Text: New Cars

=====

Url http://www.thecarconnection.com

Anchor Text: Car Reviews

=====

Url http://www.thecarconnection.com

Anchor Text: future cars

=====

Url http://www.thecarconnection.com

Anchor Text: Car Shows

=====

Url http://www.thecarconnection.com

Anchor Text: Fast Cars

Car Reviews and Future Cars

Why Car Reviews are important
Why? Simple. My country just recently increased petrol price by 41% and there is still plenty of room above. I have been telling my children that there is only one way for petrol prices to go - UP. It will hit our pockets hard. In addition to this petrol price headache, there is still the fact that petroleum is a depleting resource and there must come a day when supply of petrol will be extremely scarce. Then there are environmental issues. Top of the list is the environmental problem of the Century - global warming. Now let us add air pollution and anyone can understand why choosing the right type of cars is very important. Towards this end, checking car reviews will be most helpful.

Cars of the future
The vast majority of cars and trucks on our roads now are using the ancient internal combustion engines which are, according to Wikipedia: Internal Combustion Engine, centuries old technology. New technologies for future cars are long overdue.

Future cars, trucks and buses
Many are pinning their hopes of solar cars like the one below:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_sEyw6txVACs/SEjWTJoaMUI/AAAAAAAABYw/tvdQPuKFJbU/s400/solar+car+two+stout+monks.jpg" border="0" alt="solar car"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5208648593545244994" title="solar car" />
Photo of solar car is property of Dwayne

However, a practical solar car convenient for everyday use is still a pipe dream. Others are looking to electric cars. However, one must always keep in mind the source of that electricity to power the vehicles. If the sources are the conventional fuel burning electrical power stations or even hydraulic dams, we are back to square one as these are, I suspect, already at crisis point. The other impediment to solar cars being a practical alternative to the ancient internal combustion engines cars is the capacity to store sufficient electricity without huge and heavy array of storage batteries like the lead-acid accumulators.

A temporary solution is hybrid vehicles which can switch between power source like electricity and (again) the internal combustion engines. These are already on sale in car showrooms and on the road, but are expensive and just a stop gap measure in my opinion. However, I can visualize the situation where the place we want to go is not well served by public transport. What better ways are there than to provide means for buses to carry passengers' leg powered bicycles to intermediate bus stops and for them to proceed the rest of the way on environmentally friendly bicycles.

Importance of tyres, brakes and suspensions

Tyres
Tyres are a very important (maybe the most important) component of your car or truck because they represent your only contact between you and the road surface. Drive with bald or faulty tyres and you run the risks of accidents and injuries. In the United Kingdom, the law requires a minimum thread depth of 1.6 mm in the main grooves which are situated in the central three quarters of a tyre. On average, you should replace the tyres every 40.000 km. Irrespective of distance travelled, you should change the tyres if the thread depth is below a safety level, but really you shouldn't need a law to force you to change tyres when it is time, for your life, the life of your passengers who will most likely be your family members, and the life of other road users depend on you doing the right thing. If you happen to reside in Eastern Australia including Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra, Victoria and Tasmania, JAXQuickfit Tyres currently have 72 locations spread across the states mentioned above where you can get a quick change of tyres. They claim that they can likely offer you cheap deals. They also do tune ups.

Tyre pressure
Maintaining tyre pressure according to the vehicle's manufacturer's specification is also very important. For one, under-inflation of tyre pressure can affect your fuel consumption, something that is very important in this era of increasing fuel prices and depleting fuel supply, plus unnecessary extra fuel consumption lead to unwelcome increase in CO2 emissions and contribute to the serious global warming problem. Maybe for you, even more important is its effect on your pocket (you end up paying for fuel wasted). Fuel consumption increases by 1% every 0.2 bar (2.9 psi) the tyre is under pressure specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Under-inflation can also lead to higher tyre temperature and increase tyre wear, thus faster need of tyre change and more money and resources wasted. Tyre wear increases by 5% every 0.2 bar (2.9 psi) the tyre is under pressure specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Over-inflation tyre pressure leads to bumpy ride and may lead to poorer grip on the road (less contact surface area) and to skating. So it is important to monitor your tyre pressure regularly. JAXQuickfit Tyres can make this tedious task easy for you as they have a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Their Permagard 3rd Eye Tyre Pressure Monitoring System alerts you instantly of tyre pressure or pressure irregularities by sending an alert to a receiver fitted inside the cabin on the vehicle.

Vehicle suspension
A properly fitted vehicle suspension leads to smoother ride, maintain correct vehicle height, reduce effects of shock forces, support the weight of the vehicle and keep the tyres in contact with the road.

Shock absorbers are part of the vehicle suspension and are constantly working hard to absorb shocks as you travel over uneven roads, and can get worn out. They should be checked every 20,000 kilometres. Worn shock absorber affect safety. When shock absorbers aren’t working properly, there will be poor tyre-to-road contact leading to braking distance can be increasing by two metres when travelling at 50kmh, there will be excessive tyre bounce, premature tyre wear, reduced handling and braking performance and increased noise and suspension vibration.

JAXQuickfit can also help you to check, repair and maintain your vehicle suspension system.

Wheel alignment and balancing

Wheel alignment
It is important to keep your wheels properly aligned as wheels out of alignment will result in increased and uneven tire wear, increase fuel consumption, lead to poor vehicles handling and cause the car to pull to one side. Wheels alignment can be disturbed by hitting pot holes, riding the vehicle up curbs, etc. However, even without abuse, front wheel alignment can get misaligned under normal driving conditions after some time. The change may be so gradual that it may not be not noticed. You will probably first notice mis-alignment when peculiar wear patterns shows up on the front tires. One you can't miss is when the car start to pull to one side. When these appear, the vehicle should have its alignment checked. It is also good to send your vehicle for an alignment every once in a while and whenever you change new tyres.

JAKQuickfit Tyres offers the JAXQuickfit Tyres Ace Alignment System to keep your vehicle in proper alignment.

Wheel balancing
When something spins, there are what one refer to as centrifugal forces. If a wheel is not balanced (weight equally distributed around the wheel) these centrifugal forces will cause the wheel to vibrate, usually when it reaches a certain speed. Other than the vibrations, you will know your wheel is out of balance it you see scalloped or cupped wear pattern on the tyres. Out-of-balance tyres normally will cause a car to vibrate when the car is travelling between 80 to 110 km/hour. Unbalanced wheels will make an uncomfortable ride and lead to premature wear of many vehicle components.

Normally one would sent the vehicle for wheel balancing when one noticed the symptoms of unbalanced wheels or when changing tyres. JAXQuickfit Tyres can do the wheel balancing for you.

Chicago Used Car Auto Auction

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_sEyw6txVACs/RnCz2eFJmZI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/7xnX_HNsZgk/s320/Aution+Car.jpg" border="0" alt="Chicago Used Car Auction"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5075754528415521170" />If you are looking for cheap cars to buy, and you happens to live in the Chicago area, here is an interesting Used Car Auction Site - Auto Auction Chicago to check out. Make sure all tyres, including the spare, are properly inflated and in good condition.

BELT, HOSES, AND FLUIDS
With the engine off, look for worn or cracked belts and damaged blistered or soft hoses. Inspect the antifreeze/coolant level and condition, making sure the proper 50/50 mixture of water and coolant.

MOTOR OIL
Check motor oil level and condition. If driving under extreme conditions, such as very hot temperatures or towing a heavy trailer, switch to motor oil with higher viscosity. Check the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations.

AIR CONDITIONING
A properly working air conditioning system also helps motorists keep their cool in summer heat.

When you run your air conditioner, you get much worse petrol consumption. Even though gas prices have come down a slight bit, you still will want to do everything you possibly can to save on the money you have to pay out for gas. There are a variety of ways that you can save gas, and save money.

Tip#1 - Start Carpooling
Carpooling is a great idea for fellow students and fellow employees both. If you can find people that are going to the same place you are you can save gas by riding together. It may be a good idea to trade off on who is driving from week to week so no one person gets stuck having to drive all the time. If you have to take your children to school or other functions you can also work on trading off with your friends and neighbors to take them there.

Tip#2 - Public Transportation
If it is possible you can take public transportation to work instead of driving your car. Not only will this save you money on gas, but you will also be able to relax and not worry about having to drive through all that rush hour traffic. You may even be able to fit in a quick nap on your way to work or on your way home.

Tip#3 - Price Shop
Often it may be so convenient to buy your gas at the small gas station just up the road, but to save some money on gas you may want to check the prices at other gas stations that are nearby as well. Even if the difference is only a few cents, after putting hundreds of gallons of gas in you vehicle each year, those few cents are going to add up to quite a sum of money.

Tip#4 - Get Moving
You can save some money on gas if you start walking to where you are going, or you can ride a bike as well. You will not have to worry about paying to park your car, and the exercise will be great for you body. If you are walking or biking you will not have to worry about those huge traffic jams either.

Tip#5 - Take Care of Your Car
It is always important to take care of your car so it gets the best gas mileage possible. Also be sure to plan where you are going before you go so you will not have to backtrack and waste gas. If you can, you should use your air conditioning as little as possible because using it takes more gas. Roll down your windows and you will use less gas.

Tip#6 - Check your Tires
It is important that you check the air pressure in your tires as often as possible. If your tires are too low, or the pressure in them is unequal it can make your car burn more gas. You should also be careful how you drive. The performance of hybrid cars are also comparable to diesel/petrol cars so there’s no reason not to get it.

There are plenty of new hybrid car models introduced every year but here are my top 3 picks that offers the best performance and features for the price.

#3 Honda Civic Hybrid
The Honda Civic hybrid is not a new model and has been on the market for some time. The price retails around $20,000 and the fuel performance is 47 city mpg and 48 highway mpg.

Though it isn’t terribly fast, what I like about the honda civic hybrid is that it can carry up to 5 people. It is more functional and is suitable as a family car. It also pass the crash test rating with a good score of 5.

If you have a family and do not need to get anywhere fast, then going with a honda civic hybrid is a good buy.

#2 Honda Insight
The honda insight is a two seater hybrid car which have fuel performance of 57 city mpg and 56 highway mpg. The price is about the same as the honda civic hybrid. It is a very reliable car which I have owned for a couple of years. So far, it has not given me such problems.

There are a couple of disadvantages, firstly it is 2 seater which means it’s not a family type of car. Secondly, the horsepower isn’t that great with only 71 hp.

It is my second top pick because I like its reliability and when you compare price to performance, it is pretty good.

#1 Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius hybrid car is my top pick because it offers the best performance for the price you get. It cost around $19,000 which is the cheapest out of the three. It has more horsepower at 110 hp and can do 60 city mpg and 51 highway mpg. It is a family sized car which can hold 5 people quite comfortably with some space left in the trunk.

It also get a 4.5 score for it’s crash test rating. For price and performance, you can’t beat the toyota prius.

I have an interest in environmental issues, and my regret is the present high price of hybrid cars. I will like to see if anybody can see prices of hybrid cars ever getting low enough for people to buy to make a difference to the environment. This site BlurtIt allows anyone to sign up for an account and ask a question. So I have signed up and asked my question at Will prices of hybrid cars ever get low enough for more people to buy them to make a difference to the environment?. I have selected to be emailed when someone answer. Let us hope for something positive.

About The Author
Ricky Lim operates a hybrid cars site at All Hybrid Cars (close new window/tab to return to this page). Here are some tips on how to keep them in good condition so they last a long time.

Check your tires once a month for wear. One of the easiest ways to do this is to place a penny into the most shallow tread groove with Lincoln's head down. If the whole head remains visible the tread is worn down to 1/16th of an inch and needs to be replaced.

Never have tires repaired if they have a puncture larger than 1/4 inch or have sidewall punctures.

Keep tires properly inflated. Use a tire gauge to measure inflation. A tire can lose up to half of its air pressure and not appear to be flat!

Check air pressure on cold tires. Wait at least three hours after stopping vehicle even after just a one mile drive.

Purchase a good pressure gauge and have it checked for accuracy at your favorite dealer.

Keep your car in alignment. Just sudden stopping against a curb or driving through a pothole can throw the front end out of alignment and damage tires.

Have the tires rotated regularly. Check the owners manual of your vehicle. If no time limit is listed then have it done every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.

Avoid fast starts, stops and turns.

Avoid speeding as that heats the tires excessively and wears down the tires faster.

Avoid driving on the edge of the pavement or other sharp edges and obstructions.

Avoid overloading the vehicle. Check the owner's manual for the maximum weight load for your car.

When buying new tires know what size and what kind of tires your car requires. Know the difference between all-season tires, winter tires, radial tires, etc. Tell the dealer what type of driving you will be doing such as winter driving, mountain driving, desert driving, etc. It will be much easier to help the dealership to get you the proper tires if they know what you need.

It is best to replace all four tires at the same time. But if you need to purchase only one or two tires have them installed on the rear axle.

When washing your car clean the tires with soap and water and a soft bristle brush or a shop cloth.

When properly cared for tires can last up to 40,000, and even up to 80,000 miles depending on driving habits and road conditions.

For more information on tire care visit: Tire Care (close new window/tab to get back to this page)

About The Author
Marilyn Pokorney
Freelance writer of science, nature, animals and the environment.
